A Response to the Emerge Festival by Manic Arts in Dudley

by Emerge Festival (2018)

On the 21st April 2018 audience flooded Haden Hill House and Park and Dudley Emerge: The Shakesperiance 2018 began! The day was filled with brilliant performance, music, dance, acting, drama, food, laughter and unique experiences for everyone. All of the young people's hard work truly came to fruition, an experience that we as artists will never forget!

The festival went off without a hitch - other than the heavens opening at 2pm, with an hour of the festival left, which added a silver lining of the audience all flooding indoors to watch the rest of the young people's indoor performances.

As a community, we have been overwhelmed by Dudley's response to this project and how the young people and Labs have responded as a whole. As emerging artists, we feel this experience has been invaluable in terms of our events management skills, arts award training and as workshop facilitators. We've worked with a fantastic group of young people who have approached this project with extreme maturity and passion, and have overwhelmed us with their creativity.

We had a phone call with Andy from Consillium last week where we discussed the ins and outs of our experience with this project in more detail and we feel satisfied with how our evaluation process is going. During our last sessions at the college & the school we ordered pizza and spoke through everything festival – watch out next year's artists because the ideas are bigger and better than ever!!!

This project has been an absolute joy to be a part of and we wish next year's artists the best of luck – Dudley is ready and raring for 2019!
